FAQ

  • Who can be Hypnotized?

Each and every person who wishes to be hypnotized can be hypnotized under the right conditions. Contrary to common misconceptions, the ‘strong minded’ people often have greater success going into hypnosis.

Whether you do it to yourself, or you allow someone to facilitate, hypnosis happens all the time. If you read a book, or laugh/cry at a movie, if you’ve driven long distances in a car, if you’ve been moved to dance, if you have gotten into a focused zone or flow doing art/math/science etc. All of these are examples of trances.

Ever made love? That’s a very special shared trance that any two people who are sharing love with each other can do. Anything said in that trance, between those two people, is going to either stick or jar the other person out of the trance. It is a perfect time to remind the partner how wonderful they are and in what ways because their unconscious mind will take that in readily.

In a guided hypnosis session, where you invite me to lead you into a trance for a specific reason and purpose, it is my job to discover which induction methods work best for you. Hypnosis is a learned skill, that, with practice, anyone can improve at. A hypnosis session is a collaborative process where the hypnotherapist works to create the most powerful session for you based on the information you’ve given and the goals you desire to achieve.

I will teach you how to do self-hypnosis, so that you can take home the work we’ve done and continue it between sessions. It becomes so easy that, with practice, it literally only takes seconds.

  • Can you get stuck in hypnosis?

Even if the hypnotist left the building, the client would either drift into a natural sleep and then shortly after wake up, or simply open their eyes and be alert as usual.

  • Can a hypnotist reveal secrets?

One of the beautiful things about therapeutic hypnosis is that most often the hypnotist needs very little detail about your past or the story that you’ve been telling yourself. In addition to this, if there is information you don’t want to share, you have full ability to not share it. This is not mind control or magic. This is about giving power back to you by enabling you to connect with your unconscious mind where you have the resources to make the positive changes you want in your life, now.

  • Is hypnosis like sleeping?

Although the word ‘sleep’ is often used, it isn’t sleep that is occurring. Sometimes a very relaxed state is achieved and sometimes it’s not. You can even have your eyes wide open and be quite hypnotized. It sometimes mimics the appearance of sleep and sometimes it doesn’t. You can hear, talk and come out of trance at any time.

  • Do hypnotists have special powers?

No, we have simply learned how to utilize language in a way that affects the kinds of changes you desire. A hypnotist cannot make you do anything that goes against your morals and values.
